The Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, Assam has released an admission notice for the Veterinary Field Assistant (VFA) Training Course for the session 2024-25. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the VFA Training Course, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed HSSLC (Science) with Biology as a subject from a recognized University/Board, as per the Assam Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Subordinate Service Rules, 2002, amended in 2017.
  • Age Limit: Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years as of 01/01/2025.

      OBC/MOBC 3 years
      SC, ST(P), ST(H) 5 years
    • Age proof must be supported by the Matriculation/HSLC Certificate or Admit Card issued by a recognized Education Board. No other documents (e.g., horoscopes, affidavits) will be accepted.
  • Residency: Candidates must be permanent residents of Assam and provide a Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) or a receipt of PRC application at the time of application. The original PRC must be produced during the Personality Assessment Test (PAT).
  • Physical Fitness: Selected candidates must submit a Physical Fitness Certificate from a District/Sub-Divisional Medical and Health Officer.

  2. Fill out the online application form with accurate details.
  3. Upload scanned copies of the following documents:
    • HSLC Certificate/Admit Card for age proof.
    • Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) or receipt of PRC application.
    • HSLC Marksheet.
    • HSSLC (Science) Marksheet.
    • Recent Passport Size Photograph (taken after 01/01/2025, JPEG format, 150x200 pixels, 200-500 KB).
    • Scanned Signature (JPEG format, 150x50 pixels, 30-100 KB).
    • Caste/EWS Certificate (for FY 2024-25, if applicable).
    • DDO’s Certificate (for serving Grade-IV employees of the department).
  4. Submit the application after ensuring all details are correct.

Selection Process

The selection process for the VFA Training Course involves the following steps:

  1. Scrutiny of Applications: Applications will be thoroughly reviewed for eligibility.
  2. Personality Assessment Test (PAT): Eligible candidates will appear for a 100-mark PAT at the Directorate of A.H. & Veterinary, Chenikuthi, Guwahati-3. The PAT is evaluated as follows:
    • HSSLC (Science) with Biology: 40% weightage.
    • HSLC Marks: 20% weightage.
    • PAT Questions: 40 marks (questions on Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and General Awareness of state/national importance, with 5 questions carrying 4 marks each asked by a Selection Board).
  3. Merit List Preparation: The final merit list will be based on the total marks from the above components, adhering to the reservation policy.
    • Tie-Breaker Rules:
      • Candidates with higher age will be ranked higher.
      • If age is the same, candidates with higher HSSLC (Science) marks will be prioritized.
  4. Document Verification: Candidates must produce original documents during the PAT for scrutiny.
  5. Final Selection: The merit list will be prepared category-wise for the 200 seats. Unfilled EWS seats will be allocated to unreserved category candidates.
    Note: No TA/DA will be provided for attending the PAT. Canvassing will lead to disqualification.
