  • Language Proficiency: Must have knowledge of the official language of Assam (Assamese).
  • Employment Registration: Must possess a valid Employment Exchange registration number for the State of Assam.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of two stages:

Stage 1: Common Written Test

  • Format: OMR-based objective questions with multiple choices, 2 hours duration, 120 marks.
  • Subjects:
    • General English (50 marks)
    • General Knowledge including Computer Knowledge (30 marks)
    • General Aptitude (20 marks)
    • Official Language of Assam (Assamese) (20 marks, qualifying in nature; minimum 40% i.e., 8 marks required).
  • Marking: Each question carries 1 mark, with a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
  • Note: Marks in the Assamese language segment will not be counted for the merit list or final selection.
  • Candidates in the ratio of 1:5 (five times the total posts of a district) based on the written test marks will proceed to Stage 2.

Stage 2: Computer Skill Test (35 marks)

  • Computer Typing Test (20 marks): Conducted using typing application software to assess typing speed and accuracy in word processing. The number of correct words per minute (WPM) will be evaluated.
  • Proficiency Test (15 marks): Tests proficiency in word processors and spreadsheets.

How to Apply

Candidates must apply online through the official website of the Gauhati High Court (www.ghconline.gov.in). Follow these steps:

Phase 1: Registration

  • Register on the website to obtain a Registration Code.

Phase 2: Data Entry

  • Fill in all required details. No field should be left blank. Update data using the Update Data button.

Phase 3: Upload Documents

  • Upload a Passport Photograph and Signature in .jpg, .png, or .gif format (size: 5 KB to 30 KB).
  • Photograph dimensions: 354 x 276 pixels, with the candidate’s face covering at least 80% of the space.
  • Signature dimensions: 118 x 276 pixels, covering at least 70% of the space.
  • Use the Browse button to select files, then click Upload Passport and Upload Signature buttons to upload.
  • After verifying all details, check the Declaration box to activate the Submit Candidature button. Click to submit the application. No modifications are possible after submission.

Phase 4: Fee Payment

  • After submission, print the Fee Payment Challan by clicking the Print Fee Payment Challan Form button.
  • Pay the fee at any State Bank of India branch (cash only) after two working days from submission and on or before the last date for fee payment.
  • Obtain the Journal Number from the bank, along with the official’s signature and seal on the challan.
  • Fee payment details (Journal No., Paid Amount, Payment Date) will reflect in the candidate’s account after two working days.
  • Print the Acknowledgement Receipt and Application Form for future reference.
