Railway Technician Recruitment 2025: LAST DATE 28 JULY'2025

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality/Citizenship

Candidates must be:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A citizen of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who migrated to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanent settlement, or
  • A person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or specified East African countries.

Age Limit

  • Technician Grade-I Signal: 18–36 years
  • Technician Grade-III: 18–33 years

    SC/ST 5 years
    OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) 3 years
    Ex-Servicemen Up to the length of service or 3 years, whichever is less

    Widowed/Divorced Women (UR/EWS) Up to 35 years

Educational/Technical Qualifications

  • Technician Grade-I Signal:
    • 10+2 with Physics and Maths, or
    • ITI in Electronics Mechanic/Electrician/Wireman, or
    • Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in relevant trades.
  • Technician Grade-III:
    • Matriculation/SSLC plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in specific trades (e.g., Electrician, Wireman, Welder, Fitter, Carpenter, etc.), or
    • Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the mentioned trades.
    • Note: Diploma/Degree in Engineering is not accepted in lieu of ITI or Course Completed Act Apprenticeship unless specified.

Medical Standards

  • Technician Grade-I Signal: Medical Standard B1
  • Technician Grade-III: Varies (B1, C1, etc., as specified in Annexure A).
  • Candidates must meet the prescribed medical fitness standards during the Medical Examination (ME).

PwBD Suitability

  • Posts are suitable for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) in categories like Visual Impairment (VI), Hearing Impairment (HI), Locomotor Disability (LD), and others, as detailed in Annexure A.
  • PwBD candidates with less than 40% disability and difficulty in writing may avail scribe assistance with a certificate (Annexure V (E), Page 62).

Reservation Categories

  • Reservations are available for SC/ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), EWS, Ex-Servicemen, and PwBD candidates.
  • OBC-NCL: Must provide a valid OBC certificate (Annexure II, Page 56) and self-declaration (Annexure II A, Page 57).
  • EWS: Must submit an Income & Asset Certificate (Annexure III, Page 58) or BPL Card/Izzat MST for fee concession (Annexure III A, Page 59).
  • Ex-Servicemen: Must submit a declaration (Annexure VI, Page 65) and, if employed, a certificate from the employer (Annexure VI (A), Page 66).
  • Minority Candidates: Must submit a minority declaration affidavit (Annexure IV, Page 60) for fee waiver.

How to Apply

Candidates must apply online through the official RRB websites listed in Para 15.0 of the CEN. Follow these steps:

  1. Create an Account: Register using the link on the official RRB websites to obtain a One-Time Registration (OTR) number.
  2. Fill Application Form:
    • Provide accurate personal, educational, and technical qualification details.
    • Select the preferred RRB and order of post preferences for the chosen Pay Level.
    • Upload scanned documents:
      • Photograph: Recent passport-size, JPG/PNG, 30–49 KB, 100 DPI, 340x60 pixels.
      • Signature: Black ink on white paper, running handwriting, JPG/PNG, 30–49 KB, 340x60 pixels.
    • For PwBD candidates availing scribe assistance, submit a certificate (Annexure V (G), Page 64) and a letter of undertaking (Annexure V (D), Page 65 or V (F), Page 63).
  3. Pay Examination Fee:
    • Complete the payment process as per Para 7.1.
    • Ensure payment is made before the last date (July 28, 2025, 23:59 hours).
  4. Submit Application: Verify all details before final submission. Multiple applications for the same Pay Level will lead to disqualification.
  5. Keep Documents Ready: Original documents (educational certificates, caste certificates, disability certificates, etc.) must be presented during Document Verification (DV).

The recruitment process includes:

      • Negative Marking: 1/3rd marks per wrong answer
      • Minimum Marks: UR/EWS: 40%, OBC/SC: 30%, ST: 25%, PwBD: 2% relaxation
    • Technician Grade-III (Pay Level 2):
      • Duration: 90 minutes
      • Total Questions: 100
      • Negative Marking: 1/3rd marks per wrong answer
      • Minimum Marks: UR/EWS: 40%, OBC/SC: 30%, ST: 25%, PwBD: 2% relaxation
      • Marks normalization for multiple shifts.

Examination Guidelines

  • Banned Items: Electronic gadgets (mobile phones, watches, calculators, etc.), books, pens, or food items are not allowed in the test center. Only the e-call letter and a valid photo ID are permitted.
  • Valid Photo ID: Voter ID, Aadhaar, Driving License, PAN Card, Passport, or employer/school-issued ID.
  • Scribe Assistance: Allowed for eligible PwBD candidates with proper certification. Scribe changes at the exam center are permitted only under exceptional circumstances with a registered scribe’s OTR printout.
