Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the SBI Probationary Officer post, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:

A. Age Limit (as on 01.04.2025)

  • Minimum: 21 years (born not later than 01.04.2004)
  • Maximum: 30 years (born not earlier than 02.04.1995)

Note: Cumulative age relaxation is not available. Candidates must submit relevant certificates during the Group Exercise/Interview if shortlisted.

B. Educational Qualification (as on 30.09.2025)

  • Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university or equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
  • Candidates in the final year/semester of their graduation can apply provisionally, provided they produce proof of passing by 30.09.2025.
  • Candidates with qualifications like Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant, or Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) are also eligible, with the IDD passing date on or before 30.09.2025.

C. Reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)

  • 4% horizontal reservation is provided as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

  • Eligible disability categories include:

    • Visual Impairment (VI): Blindness or Low Vision
    • Hearing Impaired (HI): Hard of Hearing (60-70 dB loss)
    • Locomotor Disabilities (LD): One Arm (OA), Both Arms (BA), One Leg (OL), Both Legs (BL), Cerebral Palsy (CP), Leprosy Cured (LC), Dwarfism (Dw), Acid Attack Victims (AAV), Spine Deformity/Injury (SD/SI)
    • Mental Illness (MI), Autism Spectrum Disorder (Mild), Multiple Disabilities (MD)
  • Candidates must have a minimum 40% disability and submit a valid disability certificate issued by a competent authority, dated on or before 14.07.2025.

  • Chances are counted from examinations held on or after 18.04.2010. Appearing in the Preliminary Exam does not count as a chance, but the Main Exam does.

Selection Procedure

The selection process for SBI Probationary Officers consists of three phases:

Phase-I: Preliminary Examination

  • Mode: Online, Objective Test
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Duration: 1 hour

Phase-II: Main Examination

  • Total Marks: 250 (Objective: 200, Descriptive: 50)
  • Duration: 3 hours (Objective) + 30 minutes (Descriptive)

  • Descriptive Test: 3 questions (Emails, Reports, Situation Analysis/Precis Writing) for 50 marks, typed on the computer.
  • Selection Criteria: Candidates must score minimum marks in each section and an aggregate qualifying score. Top candidates (approximately 3 times the vacancies) will be shortlisted for Phase-III.
  • Penalty: 1/4th mark deducted for each wrong answer.

Phase-III: Psychometric Test, Group Exercise, and Interview

  • Components:
    • Psychometric Test: Personality profiling (marks not specified).
    • Group Exercise: 20 marks
    • Interview: 30 marks
    • Total: 50 marks
  • Final Selection: Marks from Phase-II (normalized to 75) and Phase-III (normalized to 25) are combined for a total of 100. The final merit list is based on this aggregate score.
