The BRIC-National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR), located at Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, New Delhi, is inviting applications for multiple temporary research positions under the Gates Foundation-funded project titled "Development of Climate Resilient Chickpea and Brassica by Gene Editing". These positions, supervised by Dr. Naveen C. Bisht, Scientist VI, offer a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in plant biology. Walk-In-Interview Details

  • Date: June 25, 2025 (Wednesday)
  • Time: 10:30 AM onwards

  • Registration Time: 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM (Candidates reporting after 10:30 AM will not be entertained)

Available Positions

1. Research Associate-I

Details Description
Number of Posts 2
Emoluments ₹58,000/- + 27% HRA per month
Eligibility Criteria - Ph.D. degree in any branch of Biological/Life Sciences.
- Must fulfill norms/guidelines of DST OM No: DST/PCPM/Z-06/2022 dated 26/03/2023.
- Preference for candidates with a strong publication record and prior experience in genetic transformation and gene editing in Brassica crops.
Duration Temporary, co-terminus with the project (initially for 1 year, extendable based on performance).

2. Senior Research Fellow

Details Description
Number of Posts 1
Emoluments ₹42,000/- + 27% HRA per month
Eligibility Criteria - M.Sc. degree or equivalent in Life Science/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology or related fields with two years of research experience.
- Must have CSIR-UGC NET/GATE/DST-INSPIRE or qualify as per DST Office Memorandum SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019.
- Preference for candidates with an exceptional academic record (minimum 60% marks throughout) and experience in plant molecular biology.
Duration Temporary, co-terminus with the project (initially for 1 year, extendable based on performance).

3. Project Associate-I

Details Description
Number of Posts 1
Emoluments ₹25,000/- + 27% HRA per month
Eligibility Criteria - Master’s degree in Plant Biology/Botany/Genetics/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Agriculture/Life Sciences/Bioinformatics or related fields with at least 55% marks (or equivalent).
- Must fulfill norms/guidelines of DST Office Memorandum SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated July 10, 2020.
Duration Temporary, co-terminus with the project (initially for 1 year, extendable based on performance).

How to Apply

  1. Attend the Walk-In-Interview: Eligible candidates must appear at NIPGR on June 25, 2025, at 10:30 AM onwards.
  2. Documents Required:
    • Duly filled application form in the prescribed format (available from NIPGR).
    • Self-attested copies of:
      • Date of birth certificate
      • Educational certificates
      • Experience certificates
    • Original degree/experience certificates and transcripts for verification.
  3. Registration: Submit the application form and documents during registration from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on the interview date.
  4. Note:
    • Incomplete or incorrectly formatted applications will be rejected.
    • Candidates must confirm their eligibility before applying, as ineligible candidates will not be interviewed.
    • Canvassing or bringing external influence will lead to disqualification.

Terms and Conditions

  • The positions are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.
  • The initial appointment is for one year or until the project ends, whichever is earlier, with possible extension based on performance.
  • The fellowship amounts are as per the project sanction and DBT/DST norms.
  • NIPGR reserves the right to select candidates based on qualifications and experience.
  • The appointment can be terminated with one month’s notice by either party.
  • Candidates will have no claim for regular positions at NIPGR.
  • No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.
