Name of Posts

The SSC CHSL 2025 examination aims to fill the following posts:

  • Lower Division Clerk (LDC) / Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)
  • Data Entry Operator (DEO)
  • Data Entry Operator, Grade 'A'

Number of Posts

  • Tentative Vacancies: Approximately 3,131 vacancies have been announced. The final number of vacancies will be updated on the SSC website (https://ssc.gov.in > Candidate’s Corner > Tentative Vacancy) in due course.
  • Note: State-wise or zone-wise vacancy details are not collected by the SSC. Candidates should contact the respective User Departments for such information.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the SSC CHSL 2025 examination, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

1. Nationality/Citizenship

A candidate must be:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries (e.g., Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, etc.) with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Candidates from categories other than Indian citizens require a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

2. Age Limit (as on 01-01-2026)

  • Age Range: 18–27 years (candidates born between 02-01-1999 and 01-01-2008).

  • Note: Only male candidates are eligible for posts in the Border Roads Organization (BRO).

3. Educational Qualification (as on 01-01-2026)

  • For LDC/JSA and DEO/DEO Grade 'A' (except specific departments):
    • 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognized Board or University.
  • For DEO/DEO Grade 'A' in Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Ministry of Culture, and SSC:
    • 12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.
  • Candidates appearing for their 12th Standard exams can apply but must possess the required qualification by 01-01-2026.

4. Physical Standards (for LDC in BRO)

  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Mandatory one-mile run in 10 minutes at GREF Centre, Pune.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online only through the SSC’s official website or mobile app. Follow these steps:

  1. One-Time Registration (OTR):
    • Visit https://ssc.gov.in or download the My SSC mobile app.
    • Complete OTR with Aadhaar-based authentication for a smoother process.
  2. Fill Application Form:
    • Log in using OTR credentials and fill out the application form.
    • Upload a recent photograph (taken during application) and a scanned signature (JPEG/JPG, 10–20 KB, 6.0 cm x 2.0 cm).
    • PwBD candidates must upload disability certificates (Annexure-I, IA, XI–XIV).
  3. Pay Application Fee:
    • Fee: Rs. 100/- (exempted for Women, SC, ST, PwBD, ESM).
    • Pay via BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Debit Cards by 19-07-2025 (23:00).
  4. Preview and Submit:
    • Verify all details using the Preview/Print option before final submission.
    • Keep a copy of the application for reference.

Note: Applications with unclear photographs or signatures may be rejected unless submitted via Aadhaar authentication.

Examination Process

The SSC CHSL 2025 examination consists of two tiers:

  • Tier-I: Computer-Based Examination (Objective Type) held from 08-09-2025 to 18-09-2025.
  • Tier-II: Computer-Based Examination scheduled for February–March 2026.

Note: Candidates can choose their examination medium from 15 languages, including Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, etc. (refer to Annexure-XVI).

Scribe and Compensatory Time for PwBD Candidates

  • Scribe Facility:
    • Available for PwBD candidates with blindness, locomotor disability (both arms affected), or cerebral palsy.
    • Other PwBD candidates need a medical certificate (Annexure-I/IA) to avail a scribe.
    • Candidates can opt for their own scribe (with OTR and Aadhaar authentication) or one provided by SSC.
  • Compensatory Time: 20 minutes per hour for eligible PwBD candidates, whether using a scribe or not.

Application Correction

  • Correction Window: 23-07-2025 to 24-07-2025 (23:00).
  • Correction Charges:
    • First correction: Rs. 200/-
    • Second correction: Rs. 500/-
  • Only two corrections are allowed, and the latest corrected application will be considered valid.
